How do you hire a software development company?
With Devuptime, a first working version (MVP) typically takes 6 to 12 weeks, and a complete system 3 to 8 months. We are a software development company founded in 2008 in Guarulhos, in the São Paulo metro area, Brazil. We build custom systems, mobile apps and integrations for companies that have outgrown off-the-shelf software: you hire a complete development team instead of building your own, and the source code is delivered to you.
How hiring works
- First conversation: you describe the problem and we reply within one business day. If you need to share something confidential, we sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) first.
- Discovery and scope: 1 to 3 weeks to map the process and define what goes into the first version.
- Written proposal: feature list, schedule with partial deliveries, price, and what is out of scope.
- Development: testable versions typically every 15 days, with you following along.
- Delivery and support: launch, training, bug-fix warranty and, if you want, monthly support.
What the project includes
The project covers the whole life cycle of the system, not just the coding:
- Discovery and scope: understanding the process before writing code, so we don't automate the mess.
- Interface design: screens your team can use without long training.
- Development: web systems, mobile apps and integrations with the systems you already use.
- Testing and launch: acceptance testing with real users before going to production.
- Ongoing support: fixes, security updates and new features after delivery.
If what you need already exists as a product (payroll, invoicing, a standard online store), subscribing to it costs less and goes live sooner. We say so during discovery: custom development is worth it when the process is your differentiator or when no ready-made product fits without workarounds.
Fixed-scope project or dedicated team?
You can hire us in two ways. Fixed-scope project: scope, timeline and price in writing before we start, the format for companies that already know what they need. Dedicated team by the month: developers allocated to you, with priorities you set as you go; see how our dedicated development team works. If the scope is still vague, we start with a short, paid discovery phase so every adjustment doesn't turn into a change order.
What goes into the contract
- Scope, timeline and price: the list of deliverables, the schedule and what is out of scope.
- Ownership of code and data: source code, database, repository and access credentials in your company's name.
- Confidentiality: an NDA covering the project and your business information.
- Bug-fix warranty: set in the contract, 90 days after delivery by default.
- Scope changes: how new requests are quoted and scheduled as the next phase, without stalling work in progress.
- Ongoing support: when hired, what's included, response times and the monthly fee.
Ask the same of any vendor you're evaluating: whatever stays vague in a proposal tends to become a cost later.
How pricing works
The final price depends on the number of screens, the integrations required and the volume of business rules. Discovery is the step that saves the most money: it's where you find out that half of the wish list doesn't need to be in the first version. After discovery you get a written proposal with scope, timeline and a fixed price, and nothing starts before you approve it. A dedicated team is priced monthly, by team size and seniority.
Working with a team in Brazil
We work remotely with clients in the United States, including Better Maids in New Jersey and Better People USA. Our business hours are 9 am to 6 pm Brasília time (UTC−3), which is one to two hours ahead of US Eastern time depending on daylight saving, so meetings and reviews fit into your morning and early afternoon. Contracts, scope and deliveries are in writing, and the code lives in a repository in your company's name.
